Silvia Hazel, FNP | Integrative Primary Care and Functional Medicine

I like to think of myself as an “un-earther” that teases back weeds and rocks to get to the soil beneath. Each and every one of us has our own health story, events that led us to where we are today. A part of my approach when working with patients is to map out this story, find where it began and plan out together where we will go together.

My story began as a child with autoimmune disease and no answers. For years I went from specialist to specialist trying to understand why I felt awful but seemingly had nothing wrong with me. I am now so thankful to have functional medicine and herbal allies to unearth my own story, but also to help those that have had similar experiences with healthcare as I had.

In my time working in functional and integrative medicine, I have worked extensively with patients struggling with tick born infections, mold toxicity and heavy toxic loads, gut dysfunction, neurodivergent disorders, autoimmunity, hormonal concerns, fertility, preconception and pediatric concerns. During this time, I have learned that much of the foundation for healing lies in the partnership between patient and provider.

At CIH, I am so honored to partner with people who understand that defensive, band-aiding, and reactive healthcare are not the only answer and that offense and adaptive healthcare is essential, and something everyone should have access to.

When partnering with me, we pay close attention to the subtle cues of the body, as well as recognizing any mental and emotional barriers to healing. The body has an innate capacity for healing and the body usually tells us exactly what it needs to do so. So sometimes our work lies just in listening.

When I’m not working, I am spending time with my lovely family outdoors or at the farm where we live. You can usually find us hiking, crafting, camping, cooking, or simply basking in nature.
