Elizabeth Baer, L.Ac., M.Ac.

In 2002, I decided to leave my traditional marketing job and change my life so that I could live more authentically. I’d always been drawn to connecting with people on a deep level, and with my mom’s interest in alternative healthcare always in the background, my pivot towards the healing arts felt natural and necessary. I applied to Maryland University of Integrative Health’s Acupuncture Masters program in the spring of 2002 to begin a journey of self-growth and healing that would lead me to care for hundreds of patients, pursue functional medicine training, co-found Capital Integrative Health, and eventually study Shamanic Reiki.

Through the years of working with patients, I’ve grown into an advocate for progressive and compassionate healthcare. More importantly, I’ve become a fierce believer in the beauty of our human potential to heal ourselves, our families, and our communities. We all have the ability to heal in profound ways. With every patient, I hold that potential and intention, even if they do not personally connect with it at first. My job is to not only help the patient clear pain and suffering on the more physical level of the body and emotions, but help each being remember the limitless beauty and wholeness inside them.

I enjoy and have experience working with all types of patients, including kids and teens. Some of the different health challenges I’ve helped care for include:

  • Unexplained infertility

  • Concussion

  • Depression, Anxiety and other mood issues

  • Vertigo and Meniere's Disease

  • Insomnia

  • Menstrual disorders, including peri-menopausal and menopausal symptoms

  • Musculoskeletal pain

  • Post surgery pain and healing

  • Autoimmune issues

  • Parkinsons

  • MS

  • IBS, Crohn's, UC and undefined GI issues

  • Migraine

  • Stress

  • Diabetes and metabolic syndromes

I have many tools in my healing basket, and use them as needed. They may include acupuncture, cupping, micro-current, herb/nutraceutical, lifestyle and spiritual counseling, and Shamanic Reiki. I work closely with the CIH medical team and mental health therapists on patient care, and see the power of this to accelerate an individual’s healing.
