EVOKE Brain Mapping

The eVox Brain Health System (EVOKE) is an FDA-cleared test we use to assess and improve brain health.

It gives us insights into your cognitive health, potentially identifying early risk factors and root causes of dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases, while there’s still time to treat them.

For many patients in our practice, we recommend taking this test once/year so we can track your cognitive status over time and intervene proactively if needed.

How does it work?

The Evoke test uses biofeedback technology to measure your physiological responses to different stimuli, like visual or auditory cues, while providing real-time feedback to identify and address areas of stress or imbalance in the brain.

It will paint a picture of activity in various parts of your brain and compare your images against a database of healthy/cognitively impaired brain scans, allowing your practitioner to see how your brain functions and make recommendations to optimize your cognitive health, reduce stress, and prevent neurodegenerative diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s years (or even decades) before they would normally be diagnosed.

Benefits

  • Gives your practitioner insights into your overall brain health and cognitive performance.

  • Identify underlying causes of dementia or Alzheimer’s early, giving us time to work on early prevention instead of waiting until a diagnosis.

  • Excellent way to track cognitive health over time (if taken periodically).

Who should do an EVOKE brain map?

Sample test of an EVOKE brain map

  • Preventive: anyone that is motivated to take a look at their brain health, that wishes to optimize brain health

  • Chronic stress, chronic fatigue, or chronic pain

  • Neuroinflammation (Lyme, mast cell activation, mold exposure)

  • Sleep disorders, insomnia, sleep apnea

  • Cognitive dysfunction (brain fog, memory issues, MCI)

  • Anxiety, depression, bipolar, etc.

  • ADD or ADHD

  • PTSD, or suspected trauma

  • History of TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury or concussion)

What to expect during the test

The Evoke test takes about an hour from start to finish.

One of our clinical assistants will help you put on a shower cap-like hat that has various nodes to measure brain activity throughout the tests. We will also apply moderate amount of gel on your scalp/earlobes/and chest.

Then, you'll take a few tests on a computer screen that measure reaction time, prompt you for responses to questions, and present you with various stimuli. None of the stimuli are overly surprising or exciting - just flashes of shapes, patterns and beeps. The test requires you to sit still for 10 minutes.

Once the test is complete, a clinical assistant will help you take the “shower cap” and you’ll schedule a follow up visit to discuss the results with your practitioner.

Cost

Many insurance companies cover the EVOKE QEEG (co-insurance or deductibles may apply).

We can provide you with a cost estimate before the test, and we offer flexible payment plans to help you manage any out-of-pocket costs. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our office if you have any questions or concerns about the cost of this important test.
